catsncuddles:

Hi. My name is Kelsey. I have major clinical depression. I recently moved away from my parents and I am now living on my own. Since I have moved my depression has worsened and I am unable to leave the house on my own. I live with my boyfriend, who works full time. When he is at work I am restricted to the house. I came up with an idea that can help me to live a normal life and leave the house on my own. I thought of getting a service dog. A dog that can go with me anywhere. While I was living with my parents the only time I left the house was when I walked the dogs. Now that I have moved I no longer have any dogs; even if I did have dogs the most I could do is take them for walks. I need to be able to go shopping, pick up my medicine, and visit public places. I need a dog that is permitted in such places. A service dog would make all of these activities possible.

A deeper reason for having a service dog would be for therapeutic reasons. Animals can help with most mental disorders. Having a service dog would improve my mental wellbeing greatly. I love animals more than most anything. If I were able to leave home and go to school I would want to study animal behavior. I used to volunteer at animal shelters and this helped a lot. Regular therapy and medication only does so much for me. While having my dogs with me I was never afraid to talk to people or introduce myself. They give me a confidence that I would not otherwise have. My hope is that this service dog, this companion, this friend, could help me become a happier person and help me to live a normal life. I have a lot of trouble functioning on a daily basis. I am tired of being restricted to my bedroom.

I have made the first step toward getting a service dog and I have hit a brick wall. I have contacted a service dog provider and received the proper documents to start the training process; unfortunately I do not have the sufficient funds. Because of my condition I am unable to work so I do not have nearly enough money to obtain a service dog. I am now starting a foundation to receive donations to get my service dog, and begin my process to a somewhat normal life. Please help me get my new best friend and help me get on the track to recovery. Please donate or spread the word. I will forever be grateful. Thank you very much for your support.

-Kelsey

I don’t see how the two things connect. So one person who happened to be an atheist published a sexist article. What does the article have to do with their atheism? Why should other atheists be held accountable? One individual is not a representative sample. I can easily counter your one example with an example of an atheist feminist, like Ayaan Hirsi Ali or Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Then you aren’t taking into account all the other sexist articles that were written be people who weren’t atheists.
I’d venture to say that atheism and sexism aren’t correlated. There are actually a lot of atheists who are feminists. The atheists who are feminists and the atheists who are MRAs probably cancel each other out.

Atheists see no evidence for the existence of a god.  That’s all they have in common.  This is like saying all Christians are stupid because one of them created a dumb, irrelevant meme.

LEEEEEEEROOOOOY JENKINS!!!!

Maybe you turds should read my various explanations along with all the agreement from women and minorities and other non-douchebag atheists I’ve gotten about a completely irrelevant meme

I just read your various explanations.  There are some excellent points.  There IS a problem with sexism in the atheist community.  There ARE lots of atheists who are sexist, racist douchebags.  But none of the points made have anything to do with this meme itself.
One of the poorest arguments that it is possible to make is use a single example by a single individual as use this to represent the entire community.  It’s like saying that all Christians deserve their reputation for hating gays because of the Westboro Baptist Church.  That is a bullshit argument, and I don’t tolerate arguments like that.
If you want to make a case for the poor reputation of atheist with regard to sexism, there are certainly plenty of examples to point to.  The Reddit atheism board is a great place to start.  Elevator-gate brought out the worst in many atheists.  Even the Amazing Atheist, a sexist asshole who has way too large a following, could at least be used as an example as an atheist “spokesman.”
But this meme?  Hell, it even gets the name of the article wrong.  It seems to be referring to an article in Psychology Today called “Are All Women Essentially Prostitutes?” by professional douchebag Satoshi Kanazawa.  Despite once writing an article about atheism and intelligence, he is not in any way a spokesperson for atheism.  He is, rather, a controversy loving asshole who happens to be an atheist.
So, if you want to make arguments about atheism and sexism, fine.  There are plenty to make.  The meme, however, is a perfect example of the WRONG way to make them.

HELP!!!!
This is Sox. He is my grandma’s cat. She adores him. My Grandpa is 92 years old and he was just diagnosed with congestive heart failure. They don’t think he is going to make through the week. My grandma can no longer bathe herself. She’s scared and confused. She doesn’t want Sox put down. My Uncle would be happy to take him, but his evil spawn of Satan wife will not agree to it.
We moved my grandparents to Holden, Massachusetts last year. My family used to live down the street from them until we moved to Missouri in 2010. The first year we were there they got in really bad shape.
PLEASE TUMBLR FOR MY GRANDMA’S SAKE AND TO SAVE SOX’S LIFE. SOMEONE PLEASE IF YOU CAN TAKE SOX PLEASE MESSAGE ME.
He is about 11 years old. Sweet as can be. He has irritable bowl syndrome and requires special food. He is declawed and and short haired. He gets along with dogs and other cats fairly well. He adapts really well. PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG. If you are able to take him that would be great. We just don’t want to send him back to a shelter because he came from a humane society and we don’t want him put down. I don’t know what else to say. I just found out my grandpa is about to die and my mom can’t leave to see him because she has a failing coffee shop to run. I am a little shocked. :/

Haters: Jesus still can’t see what’s wrong with telling everyone to hate their parents, wife, kids, siblings and themselves…
Luke 14:26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple.”

Jesus had his kind and loving moments, but damn!  This shit!

I think what the writer was trying to convey is that people who are happy with their lives don’t need to look for happiness in superstitions.
